Client PERSONA + Goals
THE CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT
I was approached by savvy Chef Cherie for the design of a modern Web site for her new cafe. Her soon-to-be launch product, Village Cafe, is a mobile friendly web site for customers who want to see her daily specials.
Chef Cherie noticed the onward trend for mobile-friendly Web sites in the restaurant industry and wanted to capitalize on local, hungry customers. Knowing that web sites older than 3 years can be difficult to navigate, Cherie underscored her need for mobile first accessibility and warm, tonal photography to emphasize the earthiness of her bake goods.
My initial responsibility was to create a differentiating brand identity that embodies the company's ethos and provide a stable Web site that Chef Cherie could easily update.
THE WEB SITE - FLOW
The restaurant owner came to me with a very clear idea about the features of her Web site.
For the first release, the requirement was quite simple – basically a clear and appealing presentation of the selective information that is most relevant for users. Keeping the Web site to a one page minimum allows the customers to scroll freely without losing the ability to return to their preferred section.
STYLE TILE
Within time and budget constraint, the flow was structured fairly quickly after investigating the requirements and competitors' products.
My effort was mainly put into creating stunning visuals by using a style tile that helps to efficiently communicate the essence of Chef Cherie's brand and that stands out from the current market.
